Not many places downtown can boast of offering a spacious 8000 sq. ft. multisport gymnasium. Recently improved, our gym has undergone a facelift with new lighting and ventilation systems. We have also redone the ceiling, walls and floors to accommodate three badminton courts, a basketball court and a volleyball court.

It is also the ideal location for our intense group fitness classes, such as bootcamp, boxing training, Bartendaz and aerial circus classes. Visit the multisport gym page under the sports section for detailed information about the programs that we offer.

There are five squash courts at the MAA. Two brand new German-made courts have been constructed in the newly improved multisport gym on the first floor; one of these courts converts into an international doubles squash court. We use these courts frequently for tournaments and exhibition matches.

The three remaining courts are all single courts that are located on the first floor; two facing the Bistro and the other close to the multisport gym. With all of our courts, the MAA organizes several activities, which include international and Club tournaments, leagues and interclub matches.

Our 18 metre pool, one of the oldest in the country, still retains the same feeling and aspect of when it was built in 1905. There are four lanes and the temperature is maintained at approximately 82º F.

Aquatics has always been a popular program throughout the history of the MAA and some of its most accomplished athletes include 1912 Olympic swimming double gold medalist, George Hodgson; 1960 Olympic swimming double finalist and 1962 Commonwealth Games gold, double silver and bronze medalist, Richard Pound; and 1984 Olympic synchronized swimming silver medalist, Carolyn Waldo.

Every class that you can find on the Group Fitness market is available at the MAA. Always on the lookout for new and trendy classes, the group fitness program at the MAA is certainly one of the most comprehensive in the country. Offering more than 90 classes a week that are spread over four magnificent studios, our program provides a wide variety of classes that suit every mood and fitness level.

Whether you are looking for a moment of relaxation, an intense strengthening or cardiovascular workout, a challenging learning experience, a variety of fun-filled and highly effective classes, then we have the right one for you. Our classes are available during the mornings, lunchtime, evenings and weekends and most of our classes are included with an annual membership.
