WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates is a system of exercise movements designed to promote strength, balance and coordination of the entire body. Requiring both mental and physical concentration, the technique revitalizes and re-patterns the body to function with control and ease.
HOW DOES PILATES WORK?
The Pilates Method integrates the whole body into graceful yet demanding exercises. Working from the core of abdominals and back, we exercise in optimum alignment creating balance and length in the muscles. From this foundation, posture is improved, range of motion increased, and an overall sense of well-being is felt. Pilates involves work on the mat, and specially designed apparatus such as the reformer, the chair and the trapeze table. |
