Santy de Los Santos was born in Havana, Cuba where he worked as an artist for more than 30 years. His works have been exhibited worldwide (Paris, New York, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and Toronto). Santy’s work was originally inspired by the expressionist and cubist movements, especially the art of Picasso.  Later, it was the works of renowned Cuban artist, Wilfredo Lam that influenced Santy artistically.

Proud of his roots and his native city, where he still lives, Santy now offers a contemporary style that is very personal and inspired by Havana through its architecture, colors, inhabitants and special energy.

Santy’s exhibition at the MAA is entitled Volando in Havana, which is a metaphor.  The artist presents Havana as a dream or an illusion, a place where all desires can be fulfilled.  As he can now travel outside his country, mainly to follow his works and exhibitions, Santy has recently rediscovered his hometown.  He offers visitors a close-up of his beloved Havana as they discover his works in this exhibition.
